A small-scale amendment and second phase associated with the Heron’s Landing subdivision both got favorable votes from the Walton County Planning Commission on Oct. 12, along with another proposed subdivision development and two proposed warehouse projects.

The decisions took place at the county board’s regular meeting on that date at the South Walton Annex.

The Heron’s Crossing Small Scale Amendment provided for an amendment to the Walton County Comprehensive Plan (CP) changing the land use classification from Residential Preservation to Neighborhood Infill on 1.02 acres within the Heron’s Crossing development, located on the west side of CR-30A south of the western intersection of CR-30A and U.S. 98 in Santa Rosa Beach.

Also receiving a favorable vote was Heron’s Crossing Phase II, an eight-unit multi-family residential development proposed for 0.84 acres in the Heron’s Crossing development and within the area associated with the previously-mentioned small-scale amendment.

In addition, the board members voted to recommend approval of the Palms at Inlet Beach, a residential subdivision consisting of six lots on 1.11 acres located on the north side of Walton Magnolia Lane, east of South Walton Lakeshore Drive and west of Magnolia Dunes Drive, on the south side of U.S. 98 in Inlet Beach.

Also clearing the planning commission with favorable votes were two warehouse projects. The first of those, Lot 4 South Walton Commerce Park, consisted of one 12,000-square-foot and one 7,500-square-foot structures on a 1.8-acre site on the west side of Serenoa Road within the South Walton Commerce Park north of U.S. 98 in southeastern Walton County.

The other, Atchison Warehouses, consisted of a 22,500-square-foot storage warehouse building on a 2.41-acre site located about 660 feet north of Hwy. 20 between Trout Branch Drive and Sioux Lane west of Freeport.

Continued to the Nov. 9 planning commission regular meeting were the Farmer’s Market Ordinance and the Molbridge development proposal.

Walton County Planning Commission decisions are presented as recommendations to the Walton County Board of County Commissioners, which has responsibility for final determinations in public session on development proposals and amendments reviewed by the planning commission.
