Main Street DeFuniak Springs is proud to announce DeFuniak Springs has been named the Best Small Town in Florida by MSN.com’s Insider Online.

In an article written by Frank Olito for MSN.com entitled “The Best Small Town in Every State,” DeFuniak Springs came away with the title for Florida.

INSIDER went state-by-state to find small towns with an excess of activities for both locals and visitors. While some of the towns and villages are bustling tourist destinations, others are quiet suburban communities that are home to only a select few. The populations range from only a few hundred to over 14,000, but one thing remained the same across the country: each community is a great example of a small town in their state.

DeFuniak Springs joins a list highlighted by towns such as Blowing Rock, North Carolina; Port Townsend, Washington; Eufaula, Alabama; and Helen, Georgia.

“This designation is a great honor and one we strive to live up to year after year. Being named “The Best Small Town in Florida” is a testament our heritage and culture of being a traditional Southern Town. We are defined by our hospitality, tradition, community and warmth to our neighbors and guests. We open the doors to our town for all visitors no matter if they are exploring our downtown for an hour or two while their TESLA charges, or weekly guests here for to relax and unwind from their busy life back home. We begin our year with the annual Chautauqua Assembly; celebrating our history of arts and education and end the year with our Christmas Reflections festival of lights, and throughout the year we celebrate the who we are – a small Southern town with open arms. We are DeFuniak Springs Florida, and we are Naturally Well Rounded.” – Jay Evans, Main Street DeFuniak Springs Executive Director.
