County Commissioners and Public Works host groundbreaking ceremony for new CR-280A connector road

This past Wednesday (Oct. 28), the Walton County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) and the Department of Public Works held a groundbreaking ceremony for the CR-280A connector road project located behind the Best Western in DeFuniak Springs.

The CR-280A Connector Road (CR 280B) project is a $6.6 million project funded by state appropriations and the Florida Department of Transportation. The connector project is a 1.75-mile roadway constructed within a 100 ft right-of-way, donated by CJS-331 LLC., made up of the surrounding property owners.

“This road is going to really impact the development in this area,” said Chairman Bill Chapman as he explained the potential growth for businesses along with the Veterans Villiage, which will be off the connector road.  Chairman Bill Chapman facilitated the ceremony,  in attendance with County Commissioners Danny Glidewell and Trey Nick, Gus Andrews, DOT District-3 Secretary Phillip Gainer, and others who were present to shovel out the dirt ceremonially, and others who witnessed the groundbreaking event.
