David Matthew Dauphinais, of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., passed away Monday, Nov. 27, 2017, 15 days short of his 90th birthday. He was born Dec. 12, 1927 in Pontiac, Mich., to Matthew and Gladys Dauphinais. David was a self-taught individual. In his younger years, he enjoyed piloting small planes, hunting, fishing, and woodworking that included making his own furniture and at the age of 70 he actually was physically able to build a new family home. David always looked forward to having his children and grands visit. The time spent with them was special to him. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Richard and Charles Dauphinais. David is survived by his wife of 70 and a half years, Donna Dauphinais; children, Delene Root and husband Brent of Michigan, David M. Dauphinais II of DeFuniak, Dawn Allen and husband H.D. of Mississippi, Dina Davidson of North Carolina, Drew Dauphinais and wife Landa of Arkansas; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; brother, Eugene Dauphinais and wife Nona; and sisters, Genny Dugan and Aggie Hendershot and husband Charles.
