On the morning of July 31, the Walton County School District (WCSD) held a ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony in celebration of the newly constructed Dune Lakes Elementary School (DLE) — “Home of the Sandpipers.” Located at 6565 U.S. 98 East in Santa Rosa Beach, DLE is the first elementary school built in south Walton in two decades. The school serves children from kindergarten through fifth grade. The pristine hub of education will open its doors to students in August of 2019.

The ceremony began with words from speakers including WCSD Superintendent Russell Hughes, DLE Principal Meredith Spence, WCSD Facilities Director Jill Smith, and President of DAG Architects Jack D. Baker.
Following the opening comments by the speakers was a ribbon cutting and tour of the thoughtfully designed facility.
