The Freeport Veterans Memorial (FVM) committee would like to extend a welcome to all to the annual Veterans Day ceremonies and the unveiling of the amazing new Walk Of War memorial.
Ceremonies will take place on Monday Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. at the memorial grounds at Freeport City Hall located at 112 Highway 20 west. There will be presentations by the Walton High School Air Force Jr ROTC, the Walton County Sheriff’s Honor Guard, local dignitaries and soloists as well as the Freeport High School chorus and the Freeport Elementary School Sophisticats.
The unveiling of the Walk Of War will be by local war veterans representing World War II, Korea, Vietnam and Iraq. “This will be one of the biggest and most emotional ceremonies since our building the memorial in 2010,” said Tim Ard, FVM chairperson. “A lot of thought and effort has gone in to making this installation one of the most breathtaking south of D.C.”
The committee hopes you join them for this amazing, historical day in Freeport. A reception will immediately follow the event hosted by the Town Planters Society.
