DFS City Council awards bid for FEMA sidewalk on Circle Drive [PREMIUM]

ON NOVEMBER 1, the DeFuniak Springs City Council held a special meeting in the city hall council chambers to award a bid for FEMA sidewalk on Circle Drive.

On November 1, the DeFuniak Springs City Council held a special meeting at 5 p.m. in the city hall council chambers. The purpose of the meeting was to award a bid for FEMA sidewalk on Circle Drive. 

Bid Process —The sealed bid submission deadline was November 1, 2019 at 2 p.m. The city accepted bids from companies with experience and expertise in installing sidewalks and sod to Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) technical requirements and ADA compliance standards with the ability to substantially complete the project within thirty days. The selected contractor will be responsible for providing all material, concrete, sod, supervision, equipment and labor required to complete the job. 

Approximate sidewalk dimensions are 5 ft. wide and 4 ft. thick and 3,765 linear feet in length. Additionally, the contractor will be responsible for the installation of sod along the sidewalk for stabilization and erosion control. The contractor is responsible for determining material required by attending the mandatory pre-bid/walkthrough meeting. The work will include removing material; preparing the base; installation of new concrete at varying depths based on usage and location; and timely cleanup and removal of all forms of barricades and spoils. 

At the November 1 special meeting, City Manager Mell Smigielski stated that all applicants met the requirements to be selected. The city council selected Holley Development who was the lowest bidder with a bid of $228,000.
