On Dec. 27, 2018, the DeFuniak Springs (DFS) City Council met at 5 p.m. at DFS City Hall for a special meeting.
Meeting Minutes — The meeting began with the Council approving of the City Manager Application Review Committee meeting minutes for July 23, 2018 and July 16, 2018. Also approved were the Finance Director Application Committee meeting minutes for Oct.17, 2018 and Oct. 24, 2018.
Employee Pay Increase — A letter from City Manager Mell Smigielski, in regards to a pay raise for City Clerk Loretta Laird, to the City Council reads, “I would like to request an increase in the salary of Loretta Laird by $1.00 per hour effective December 20, 2018, for obtaining her Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation.” The motion carried to approve the pay raise for Laird.
Dumpster on ROW — The Walton County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) requested the placement of a roll-off dumpster at the right-of-way located at 27 7th Street in DFS. The Council approved this request.
The final item on the meeting’s agenda was the adoption hearing for the DFS 2019-2023 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). The 2019-2023 CIP schedule lists future projects and plans for roadway improvements, sidewalks, drainage improvements, sanitary sewer, potable water, natural gas, recreation, facilities and equipment.
Roadways to receive improvements as listed on the CIP schedule include a Twin Lakes Dr and Lakeview Dr repaving project; W Live Oak Dr; Lakeview Dr; Twin Lakes Dr; Crescent Dr; Park Ave; E Main Ave. Sidewalks improvements locations: Circle Dr, Walton Rd, College Ave, 20th St, E Main Ave, W Main Ave, and the sidewalk areas of the Lakeyard on Circle Dr. Drainage improvements locations: W Like Oak Ave, Lakeview Dr, Twin Lakes Dr, Crescent Dr, Park Ave, E Main Ave, 4th Street, Circle Dr, the Lake Yard, and South 11th & West Main.
On Monday, Jan. 14, the DFS City Council will hold a regular meeting at DFS City Hall at 6 p.m.
