Artie Rodriguez is specially invited guest performer at National Peace Officers Memorial Service May 15

ARTIE RODRIGUEZ appeared and performed at a fallen officer’s funeral earlier this year in Maine.

Artie Rodriguez, former Walton County Sheriff’s Deputy and currently Walton County Tax Collector’s Director of Administration, has been invited to perform in Washington D.C. on the Capitol lawn on May 15 for the National Peace Officers Memorial Service.

In an email to the media, Rodriguez said, “Each May during Police Week here in the U.S. thousands of law enforcement officers pay tribute to officers who were killed in the line of duty from the previous year.

“This year I received a call from the National President of the Fraternal Order of Police to perform my original song ‘If It Wasn’t for the Badge’ at this year’s 2019 ceremony. There were only two artists across the U.S. that were chosen to participate.”

Rodriguez will perform his song immediately before the guest speaker steps on stage. In previous years, the speaker has always been the president of the United States. There will be thousands of law enforcement officers present and it will also be televised on C-Span that day at 10 a.m. CST.
