Job Summary:
This position is an entry level position that assists in garbage and trash collection services to ensure its’ collected, transported and disposed of properly. Typical work schedule will be Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. till 5 p.m.; work schedule may vary. Subject to be called in on a holiday or during an emergency situation.
Essential Job Functions:
•Operates all equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
•Performs daily safety and preventive maintenance checks of truck and equipment.
•Collects garbage and trash from residential, commercial and other facilities.
•Cleans tools and equipment as scheduled or required.
•Gathers debris and/or other authorized material for knuckle-boom truck to pick up.
•Maintains and enforces the use of PPE’s (Personal Protective Equipment), safety and traffic signage.
•Adheres to work schedule and attendance requirements.
•Adheres to all safety rules and regulations.
•Performs other duties as directed and required.
•Must create a positive public image as a representative of the city.
Position Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED obtained with any preferred experience in sanitation maintenance, collections and operations, or any combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and ability to perform the job. Requires a valid Florida driver license with the ability to obtain a class “A” CDL with airbrake endorsements within (1) one year from date of hire.
