AFTER CUTTING UP the large and apparently very old tree, the DeFuniak Springs Public Works Department contacted Walton County ARC to handle removal of the tree and other debris. The concrete roof of the picnic pavilion damaged by the falling tree will likely have to be replaced, said DeFuniak Springs Public Works Director Bill Holloway, who said the tree did not fall due to any damage sustained during the previous days’ storms.
