Freeport- The Mayor of the Town of Malone has challenged the Mayor of Freeport in collecting items to be taken to the Louisiana area that was devastated from the flood. Items will be collected for a period of two weeks and the two mayors will take the items to that area. Information is being gathered for items that is needed, such items as toilet articles, clothing, non- perishable food etc. will be collected, other items may be on the list once it is complete, you may call city hall for additional information or contact Mayor Russ Barley @ Rbarley@freeportflorida.gov . Items can be dropped off at Freeport City Hall.

THE WALTON COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER has more than 100 dogs and cats hoping to go HOME with their forever families before it’s too late. Our adoption fee is just $55 and that includes spay/neuter, microchip and all required shots. In some cases, you can take your new friend home with you the very same day. If you’ve never visited the Walton County Shelter, it’s a great facility with a caring staff who really really wants to see every animal get a forever home. The address is 365 Triple G Road in Defuniak Springs, north of town out by the Sheriff’s Office. Call the shelter for more information (850)892-8758.
