The Walton County Planning Commission will hold a public meeting to hear the following items on Thursday, April 30, 2009, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the South Walton County Courthouse Annex located at 31 Coastal Centre Boulevard, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida 32459:

LEGISLATIVE ITEMS:
A workshop to consider the EAR-based amendments to the Walton County Comprehensive Plan. This is a continuation from Wednesday, April 22, 2009.

The Planning Commission will make a recommendation to the Board of County Commissioners regarding these items either to approve, approve with conditions or to deny.  Any agenda item that is tabled will be scheduled for a future Planning Commission meeting and will not go forward to the Board of County Commissioners until the Planning Commission makes a recommendation.

In accordance with Section 286.26, Florida Statutes, whenever any board or commissioner of any state agency or authority, or of any agency or authority of any county, municipal corporation, or other political subdivision, which has scheduled a meeting at which official acts are to be taken receives, at least 48 hours prior to the meeting, a written request by a physically handicapped person to attend the meeting, directed to the chairperson or director of such board, commission, agency, or authority, such chairperson or director shall provide a manner by which such person may attend the meeting at its scheduled site or reschedule the meeting to a site which would be accessible to such person.

In accordance with Section 286.0105, Florida Statutes, all persons are advised that, if a person decides to appeal any decision made by the board, agency, or commission with respect to any matter considered at such meeting or hearing, he or she will need a record of the proceedings, and that, for such purpose, he or she may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based

MINING ORDINANCE – An ordinance of Walton County, Florida amending the Walton County Land Development Code to add Chapter 16, mining regulations; providing for definitions, specifying design and operational standards for mines, procedures for approval of mines, providing fees; providing procedures for the determination of vested rights; providing for judicial review for the specific matters addressed herein; providing for conflict with other ordinances; providing for severability; and providing an effective date.

This is a major development order application submitted by Greg Goodwin Construction requesting approval for a 5,967 square foot office building, 2 warehouse buildings totaling 7,000 square feet, 380 mini-storage units totaling 51,500 square feet, for a total of 64,467 square feet of commercial use on approximately 4.01 acres with a future land use of commercial. 5. MCDANIEL’S FISHCAMP A/K/A RVC USA FREEPORT – Project number 08-001-00064. This is a major development order application submitted by Porterfield Engineering, Inc. proposing to develop a commercial recreational vehicle park on 71.08 acres with a future land use of rural village. The site is on McDaniel’s Fishcamp Road (parcel numbers 02-2S-19-24000-034-0030 and 02-2S-19-24000-034-0040).

6. WHISPERING SHORES – Project number 07-001-00095. This is a major development application submitted by Jason Daniel, requesting approval for 17 single-family lots on 4.47 acres with a future land use of NPA-infill. The site is at 40 Whisper Lane (parcels numbers 10-2S-20-33000-002-0010, 10-2S-20-33000-002-0020, 10-2S-20-33000-002-0040, 10-2S-20-33000-0050, 10-2S-20-33000-002-0060, 10-2S-20-33000-002-007A, 10-2S-20-33000-002-0070, and 10-2S-20-33000-002-0080).

7. SAWYER COMMERCIAL PUD F/K/A SAWYER COMMERCIAL – Project number 07-001-00028. This is a major development application submitted by North Florida Capital, LLC, requesting conceptual approval of a commercial planned unit development. The applicant proposes to refurbish an existing structure and build 70,544 square feet of hotel in two phases on 5.67 acres with a future land use of coastal center. The site is at 11610 U.S. Highway 98 West (parcel numbers 29-2S-21-42000-003-00A0 and 29-2S-21-42000-003-00B0).

The Walton County Design Review Board will hold a regular public meeting to hear projects beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at the South Walton County Courthouse Annex located at 31 Coastal Centre Boulevard, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida 32459.  The Board will hear the following items:
