A SUNNY DAY greeted participants of the DeFuniak Springs Relay for Life 2009 as teams began to gather at the Walton County Fairgrounds. Throughout the day, teams walked the track, sold concessions, participated in games and enjoyed the fellowship of others who share their mission – the fight against cancer. A special surprise performance was also on the schedule. This performance featured the sounds of success and victory by a group of cancer survivors and was a highlight of the day. Survivors joined hands and sang “I Will Survive” as re-worded by a cancer survivor. The group also sang “Whispering Hope” and “Amazing Grace.”  The DeFuniak Springs Relay for Life 2009 efforts netted approximately $55,000.
