THE CITY OF DEFUNIAK SPRINGS was named in honor of Col. Frederick de Funiak. Recently, Albert Fox De Funiak (L), a descendant of the town’s namesake, along with author Thomas Moody, were welcomed by City Councilmen Henry Ennis and James Hoffman and Mayor Harold Carpenter at Sunday’s reception. Moody’s publication, “Fred de Funiak, Engineer,” can be purchased at the Walton County Heritage Museum. (Photo by Jeffrey Powell)
