“TAKE STOCK IN THE CLOCK” is an effort launched by the Walton County Heritage Association to restore the First National Bank clock on the corner of Baldwin Avenue and Seventh Street in DeFuniak Springs. The clock has been a downtown landmark since 1924 and has been inoperable for some time. In addition to the clock not working, there is evidence that if something is not done in the near future the timepiece could fall due to corrosion and neglect. The goal of the program is to raise $50,000 and restore the clock to its original condition. Persons wanting to participate can purchase a “stock certificate” at $125 a piece. Contributors will then be issued a certificate indicating their participation. Reacy Little, Jack Little, Austin Woodham and Dennis Ray display their “Take Stock in the Clock” certificates.
