ON FEB. 20, the Walton County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) held the first civilian pistol safety class. The twenty participants met at 8 a.m. at the WCSO firing range complex for lecture, demonstration and both dry and live fire training. Sheriff Michael Adkinson opened up the facilities and provided instructional staff for the training event. Judging from the course evaluations, the participants felt they had learned a lot and were better able to handle their firearms. Many requested additional training and felt that they would benefit from the next level which covers home defense and the “castle doctrine.”
Anyone interested in signing up for future classes may call the Walton County Sheriff’s Office at (850) 892-8186 and ask for the training section.
