MAN ARRESTED IN SHOOTING INCIDENT

On Feb. 10, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Walton County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a residence north of DeFuniak Springs off of Hwy. 83, in reference to a subject with a firearm threatening suicide.
Upon arrival to the residence, a deputy was confronted by the armed male subject. The subject refused to comply with the deputy’s orders to put down his weapon. The subject then raised his gun and pointed it at the deputy. The Deputy responded by firing his service pistol at the subject, striking him one time in the arm.
The subject was treated by medical personnel on scene and transported to North Okaloosa Medical Center where he was listed in stable condition. The subject was later taken into custody without further incident. The subject was identified as James Darrel Tucker of DeFuniak Springs.Tucker is being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
