Jan 17th, 2014 | 0

By BEN GRAFTON
There were five items on the agenda at the opening of the Walton County Planning Commission meeting of Jan. 9, but as the first order of business, the item covering a Stonegate-LSA large sacale amendment  application was continued to the meeting of March 13; the item addressing the Laurence Grodd-Abandonment application was continued to the meeting of Feb. 13 as was the City Produce application for a major development order.
Discussion turned to a Walton County Comprehensive Plan Mixed Use Acreage Criteria Ordinance proposal. Under this proposal, which is still under review, the acreage criteria for providing mixed uses in a number of zoning types would be revised and the types of uses would be clarified.  The affected zone types are: Small Neighborhood (SN); Traditional Neighborhood Development (TND); Coastal Center (CC) and  Coastal Center Mixed Use (CCMU). The staff is to bring a map and more data for review at the next meeting.
A discussion of a proposed Land Development  Code Land Uses Ordiinance followed. This ordinance would provide new land use districts including: General Commercial (GC); Industrial (ID); Black Creek Neighborhood Planning Area (BC/NPA); Neighborhood Commercial (NC); Low Density Residential (LDR); Development of Regional Impact – Mixed Use (DRI/MU); Extractive Uses (EU); The second Town Center (TC2); and Resort (R). Land use districts to be deleted would include:  Commercial (CM); Industrial (I); Private Conservation (PC); and Medium Industrial (MI).
