NOTICE OF INTENT OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF WALTON COUNTY TO AMEND BOARD POLICY

The School Board of Walton County, Florida, hereby gives notice of its intent to amend School Board Policy 6.13, Year of Service Defined for Administrative and Instructional Personnel.
PURPOSE, EFFECT & SUMMARY: The purpose and effect of the amendment is to no longer give administrators hired on or after January 7, 2009 credit for years for which they are currently drawing retirement dollars. This amendment will not affect current employees.

LEGAL AUTHORITY: FS 1001.41; FS 1001.42; FS 1001.43 & FS 1012.33

ECONOMIC IMPACT: The implementation of the amendment is expected to save the School District approximately $12,500 annually.

A public hearing will be held by the School Board of Walton County, Florida at 5:00 o’clock p.m. during the regular board meeting on January 6, 2009 in the Board Room at the Tivioli Administrative Center, 145 Park Street, DeFuniak Springs, Florida for the purpose of considering the proposed amendment. Any interested person may appear at the hearing and present evidence and argument and be heard concerning the proposed amendment. Immediately following the public hearing the School Board of Walton County, Florida will consider action to adopt the amendment.

The amendment will consist of a paragraph added to School Board Policy 6.13 that consists of the following text: “Effective January 7, 2009, administrators shall not be given credit for years of experience for which they are drawing retirement funds. This provision will apply only to administrators hired on or after January 7, 2009.”

If a person decides to appeal any decision made by the School Board with respect to any matter considered at such meeting or hearing, such person will need a record of the proceedings, and for such purpose, such person may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.

The School Board of Walton County does not discriminate upon the basis of any individual’s disability status. SHIP funds will support non-profit and private-for-profit sponsored affordable rental housing developments typically in conjunction with financing provided by the Florida Housing Finance Corporation (FHFC), the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), local bonding authorities, public housing authorities, or other similar rental development sponsoring agencies.

Mandatory Pre-Bid will be held on January 21, 2009 at 9:00AM at the Training Center, formally known as the Wee Care Park, 552 Walton Road, DeFuniak Springs. Bidders, who arrive late, will be allowed to attend the pre-bid, but will not be allowed to submit a bid.

All bidders/proposers must be present at the designated start time of any pre-bid conference and must remain until the conference is adjourned. The County will not accept bids/proposals from any bidder/proposer arriving after the designated start time at listed in the Invitation to Bids or Request Proposal or departing prior to the adjournment of the pre-bid conference.

The improvements to Pompano Street include reconstructing areas of the once existing roadway that has been washed away during past hurricanes and tropical storms. The proposed roadway will consist of an 18’ wide asphalt roadway with concrete ribbon curb on either side, Included in the proposed reconstruction a new guardrail will be constructed along the southern side of the roadway with storm water swales. An 8” tip pile retaining wall will be constructed 10LF from the edge of the ribbon curb. In order to armor the shoreline below the roadway approximately 384 LF of sheet pile wall will be constructed along with sea oats for stabilization.
