The Paxton Lady Bobcats got 21 points from Erin Walker as they rolled to a 72-31 road victory over Freeport on Monday.
Paxton, fresh off a trip to the state Final Four in Class A last year, jumped out to a 39-17 lead as the Bobcats shot near 50 percent from the floor in the first half, shooting 16 of 33 in the first two quarters of play.
Paxton used their size and experience to their advantage to pick up the win. Stevie Davidson, the Bobcats’ lone senior, had several steals from her point guard position as she put nine points up on the scoreboard. Emmalee Infinger was the only other Bobcat in double figures, scoring 11 points in the contest.
Nikki Blalock was the only Bulldog player to hit double digits as she posted 11 points, mostly on three-point shots for Freeport.
Freeport evened their record at 1-1 on Tuesday night as the Bulldogs traveled to Panama City Arnold and came away with a 56-40 win over the Marlins. Nikki Blalock led the way with 16 points while Curstin Buford and Niki Bishop had 12 points apiece.
Game Notes: Freeport Head Coach Mike Myrick began his 10th season at the helm of the program and has a record of 86-145 at the school. Paxton is 17-3 versus Freeport over the last 12 seasons. Freeport hasn’t defeated Paxton in girls basketball since January 25, 1999.
