OF WALTON COUNTY, FLORIDA TO ADOPT A SCHOOL BOARD RULE
SETTING FORTH SOCIAL MEDIA
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES IN THE
WALTON COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT

The School Board of Walton County, Florida, hereby gives notice of its intent to adopt the proposed rule setting forth Social Media policies and procedures governing the pedagogical usage of social media outlets in the Walton County School District, pursuant to the procedures set forth in the Administrative Procedures Act.

PURPOSE AND EFFECT: The purpose and effect of the adoption of the proposed rule is to set forth the rights and responsibilities of approved users as pertains to the usage of social media outlets.

SUMMARY: Policies and procedures for the appropriate usage of social media outlets in the Walton County School District will provide a framework for evaluating and maintaining a consistent pedagogical purpose within the schools.

LEGAL AUTHORITY: The adoption of the proposed rule is authorized by Sections 1001.41, 1001.42, 1001.43, and 1006.09, Florida Statutes.

ECONOMIC IMPACT: The adoption of the proposed rule will not result in any additional costs to the School District.

A public hearing will be held by the School Board of Walton County, Florida, at
5:00 o’clock p.m. during the board meeting on May 22, 2012, in the Board Room at the Tivoli Administrative Complex, 145 Park Street, DeFuniak Springs, Florida, for the purpose of considering adoption of the proposed rule setting forth Social Media policies and procedures for the pedagogical use of social media. Any person may appear at the hearing and present evidence and argument and be heard concerning the adoption of the proposed rule. Immediately following the public hearing, the School Board of Walton County, Florida will consider final action to adopt the proposed rule.

The entire text of the proposed rule is on file and available for inspection during regular office hours at the office of the Superintendent of Schools, Walton County, Florida, which office is located at 145 Park Street, Suite 2, DeFuniak Springs, Florida.
Copies of the proposed rule are available to the public at the Superintendent’s office.

If a person decides to appeal any decision made by the School Board with respect to any matter considered at such meeting or hearing, such person will need a record of the proceedings, and for such purpose, such person may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.

The School Board of Walton County does not discriminate upon the basis of any individual’s disability status. PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

The Walton County Zoning Board of Adjustment will hold their regular public hearing on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 6:00 P.M. at the South Walton Courthouse Annex in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida 32459.  The following items are scheduled for review and action:

SHARI JUDKINS ADMINISTRATIVE APPEAL – Project number 11-004-00001.  This is an administrative appeal submitted by Shari Judkins, appealing the Planning and Development Services Director’s decision to allow a commercial use within the coastal center land use category. WILLIAM BUZZETT PETITION FOR VARIANCE– Project number 12-005-00002. PURPOSE AND EFFECT:  The purpose and effect of the adoption of the 2012-2013 District Student Code of Conduct is to set forth the rights and responsibilities of students attending school in the Walton County School District and provide the rules of conduct and discipline that apply to such students.

SUMMARY:  The District Student Code of Conduct is adopted each year by the School Board of Walton County, Florida, and set forth the rights and responsibilities of students attending schools in the Walton County School District and the rules of conduct such students must follow.  In addition, the codes of conduct set forth infractions that are considered grounds for disciplinary action and the recommended disciplinary action.

LEGAL AUTHORITY:  The adoption of the 2012-2013  District Student Code of  Conduct is authorized by Sections 1001.41, 1001.42, 1001.43, 1006.07, 1006.08, 1006.09, 1006.10, 1006.13, 1006.135, 1006.14, 1006.147 and 1006.21, Florida Statutes, and the law implemented is Section 1006.07, Florida Statutes.

ECONOMIC IMPACT:  The adoption of the 2012-2013 District Student Code of Conduct will not result in any additional costs to the School District.

A public hearing will be held by the School Board of Walton County, Florida, at 9:00 a.m.  during the regular board meeting on June 12, 2012, in the Board Room at the Tivoli Administrative Complex, 145 Park Street, DeFuniak Springs, Florida, for the purpose of considering adoption of the 2012-2013 District Student Code of Conduct.  Any interested person may appear at the hearing and present evidence and argument and be heard concerning the adoption of the 2012-2013 District Student Code of Conduct.  Immediately following the public hearing, the School Board of Walton County, Florida will consider final action to adopt the 2012-2013 District Student Code of Conduct.

Separate sealed Bids for the construction of:

The Liberty Fire District

The proposed design-build project is located at the northeast quadrant of the Beech Road and U.S. 90 intersection, west of the Defuniak Springs City Limits, in Walton County, Florida. The scope of the project will include the construction of an 8000 S.F. split face CMU (block) fire station with a slab on grade foundation engineered to withstand 150 mph wind loading. A total of 4520 S.F. of the building will serve as fire engine bays with 3480 S.F. to be finished to provide offices, bunk rooms, restrooms, kitchen, day room, etc. The livable space will require 9’ ceilings with a pre-engineered truss system to provide an attic space for storage which will remain unfinished. Site work for the proposed improvements is not included in this contract. The design-build team will be required to provide LEED Silver certification and the general contractor selected will be responsible for all utility coordination.

Separate sealed Bids will be received by the Preble-Rish, Inc at the their office 877 County Road 393 North, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459, until 4:00 p.m., Central Standard Time (C.S.T.) on June 18, 2012 and then at said office publicly opened and read aloud. A mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held at the site at 3:00 p.m., C.S.T. on June 6, 2012. All contractors must be pre-qualified. Pre-qualification packages as provided in the project specifications shall be used and are also available upon request. Prequalification packages must be received at the Santa Rosa Beach Preble-Rish office by 11:00 a.m., C.S.T. on May 31, 2012. Approved contractors will be notified in writing prior to the pre-bid conference.

THE LIBERTY FIRE DISTRICT reserves the right to reject any and all bids. All Bids shall remain firm for a period of sixty days after the opening. Bidders shall comply with all applicable State and local laws concerning licensing registration and regulation of contractors doing business in the State of Florida.

All contracts exceeding $10,000 shall contain a provision requiring compliance with Executive Order 11246, entitled, “Equal Employment Opportunity,” as amended by Executive Order 11375 and as supplemented in Department of Labor regulations (41 CFR Part 60).
