On Oct. 12, at around 4:10 a.m., the Walton County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) and Walton County Fire and Rescue responded to a stabbing call from the residence at 130 Earl Godwin Road in Freeport. Jessica Coleman, 17, had been stabbed an estimated six times. She was transported by EMS to Sacred Heart Hospital, and is reportedly in fair condition. Deputies were able to find out that the stabbing actually took place on the side of the road of CR-83A west and back to the north of Earl Godwin Road, between Goodwin Creek Road and Short Cut Road.
The alleged altercation that occurred on the side of the road was between Coleman and a 16-year-old female juvenile. The 16-year-old, identified as Evelyn M. Spillman, of Freeport, was detained and arrested at a residence on Loop Circle located off of CR-83A west in Freeport.
Spillman was charged with one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. She was booked at the Walton County Jail and then transported to Department of Juvenile Justice in Okaloosa County.
At this time the case is still under investigation and additional charges could be pending.
