The Walton boys golf team fired a 296 as a team to capture the three-team tourney title as Paul McClure shot a 66 and Heath Morgan a 71 to lead the Braves.
McClure torched his home course in preparation for the district tournament which will be held at Bay Point in Panama City this week. Morgan was the only other golfer to shoot under par among the boys as he provided Walton with a one-under par score. Devin Partridge shot a 75 and Clay Cawthon an 84 to round out the Braves scoring.
South Walton finished second with a team score of 391 as Billy Davis shot a 78 and Dylan Scott a 92. Shawn Howard carded a 102 with Jake Vermillion shooting a 119.
Freeport struggled to a 481 team score as Derek Fannin had a 112 with Michael Graziani firing a 115. Coty Porter shot a 124 and Shane Schofield a 130 to round out the scores.
Freeport’s Joslyn King was the Low Medalist on the girls side as she shot a 54 to lead the 9-hole girls match as Freeport also captured the team title.
Walton is looking to advance to the state tournament for the third consecutive year and must first qualify for the regional in Gulf Breeze by being one of the top three teams in the District Tournament at Bay Point.
