An 82-year-old man, Colin Hale, apparently wandered away from Crystal Bay retirement community after being last seen on July 3 at around 10 p.m. According to authorities and has yet to be found.
Hale is described as being 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs about 160 pounds with reddish-gray hair. A noticeable scar is located on his nose and he was last seen wearing blue jeans and an unknown colored shirt.
Authorities have been searching since the morning of July 4 and conducted a focused search within a mile of the retirement center aided by volunteers on Sunday, July 6, and found no traces of the man.
According to published sources, Hale has hitch-hiked in the past when he has become disoriented and told someone he was going to see his parents when he left the retirement center. Hale’s parents are dead and never lived in the United States.
The Walton County Sheriff’s office received calls over the holiday weekend reporting sightings of the man at Miramar Beach and near the Mid-Bay Bridge on July 4. Anyone who sees Hale or has knowledge of his location should contact the Walton County Sheriff’s Office at 267-2000.
