Eleven students arrested in WHS burglary, vandalism

Apr 13th, 2008 | 0

On Friday, April 4, 2008, at approximately 11:45 p.m., several subjects forcibly entered Walton High School (WHS) and committed approximately $10,000 worth of damages. Video surveillance footage from WHS revealed that the subjects wore masks to conceal identity.

An investigation resulted in the arrest of 11 WHS students. During the burglary a security camera was torn down and thrown into a pond, students poured different color paints on the carpets, poured paint on the walls, sprayed silly string on the camera housings, stopped up the urinals and sinks in the girls and boys bathroom, and taped open the fixtures nozzles, resulting in flooding of the bathrooms. They also poured asphalt patching material and fertilizer throughout several carpeted hallways. The subjects stated it was meant to be a prank.

Those arrested surrendered to the police on April 8 and were released to their parents. Nine students were charged with burglary of an unoccupied structure and felony criminal mischief over $1,000. Due to the amount of damage, the burglary is a first-degree felony. Two students were charged as principal to burglary and criminal mischief for their role as look-outs.

Those arrested are: Michael Todd Campbell Jr, 17, of DeFuniak Springs; Beau Rushing, 18, of DeFuniak Springs; Sean D. Carter, 18, of DeFuniak Springs; Markus Jiggetts, 17, of DeFuniak Springs; Ashley Campbell, 19, of DeFuniak Springs; Samantha J. Brown, 19, of DeFuniak Springs; Tyler Reisner, 18, of DeFuniak Springs; Bryant Bowen, 18, of DeFuniak Springs; and Charles K. Caldwell Jr., 17, of DeFuniak Springs.

Charged as principals to burglary and criminal mischief for their role as lookouts are: Matthew T. Nall, 17, of DeFuniak Springs; and Sean Michael Allen, 17, of DeFuniak Springs.
