COUPLE COMES HOME TO FIND INTRUDER

Jun 4th, 2008 | 0

By BRUCE COLLIER

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) received a call on June 1 at around 12:04 a.m. from a man and woman living on Woodlands Boulevard. The couple reported that they had returned home and discovered that one of their bedroom windows had been broken out. After entering the house they heard a noise coming from one of the other bedrooms and went in to see what the noise was. Someone was hidden under a blanket on the bed. After being confronted, the intruder jumped up off of the bed and grabbed the woman by the throat. Then a fight broke out between the intruder and the man. The suspect ran out of the house and into the woods. As soon as the first deputy arrived and made sure the victims were all right, a perimeter was set up until other deputies arrived.
Tracking dogs from the sheriff’s office were also called in. With the help of the dogs the suspect was located hiding in the woods. The suspect has been identified as George Henry Stanley, 22, of DeFuniak Springs.
Stanley was charged with one count of criminal mischief and one count of burglary with assault or battery and was transported to the Walton County Jail. Bond has been set at $10,000.
