DeFUNIAK SPRINGS POLICE ARREST THREE IN CITY-WIDE BURGLARIES

On Thursday, Nov. 12, officers with the DeFuniak Springs Police arrested three male subjects that are believed to be responsible for a series of recent business burglaries in the city of DeFuniak Springs.
Arrested were: Christian Jahmal Freeman, 20, 221 North 11th Street, DeFuniak Springs, booked with five counts of burglary to a business, grand theft and criminal mischief; Deonta Keshawn Smith, 18, 209 Graham Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, booked with five counts as a principal to burglary and principal to grand theft; and Tiyari Raheem Hogan, 19, 220 Vann Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, booked with five counts as a principal to burglary and principal to grand theft.
Officers located the suspects at a local motel, after responding to several early morning reports of break-ins to local businesses. Once the suspects were located and arrested, the DeFuniak Springs Police and the local office of the State Attorney secured two search warrants for the suspects’ rooms. DeFuniak Springs Police and the State Attorney’s representatives served the search warrants at the local motel and investigators recovered numerous items of evidence, linking the suspects to multiple local business burglaries throughout the city.
The investigation is on-going with additional charges expected as well as other possible arrests being made.
