PAXTON TOWN COUNCIL APPROVES SMALL SCALE AMENDMENT

The Oct. 20 meeting of the Paxton Town Council saw passage of a small-scale amendment and mayoral appointment of council members to various town departments. The Council held a special meeting prior to the regular meeting for a final public reading and adoption of an ordinance amending the city’s comprehensive plan (specifically future land use map) The ordinance, No. 09-03, adopts the Firestone Small Scale Comprehensive Plan Amendment and changes a designated parcel of land (referenced in the ordinance) from Agriculture to Low Density Residential. The amendment will become effective when the Florida Department of Community Affairs or Administrative Commission finds the amendment to be in compliance in accordance with state statutes.
The regular meeting convened at 6 p.m. Attending were Council members Bobby Kemp, Ann Sexton, Bill McRae, Jenice Armstrong, Mayor Hayward Thomas, and City Attorney Lori Bytell. Council member Mark Warren was absent.
Following approval of last month’s minutes and payment of bills, Mayor Thomas made the following appointments. Kemp accepted an appointment to continue as chairman of the council, and McRae agreed to serve as vice-chairman. Department appointments made and approved were: Sexton for parks and recreation; McRae for streets and lights; Armstrong for buildings, grounds and cemetery; Warren for sewer and water; and Kemp for public safety….
