FREEPORT COUNCIL APPROVES SHOPPING CENTER PROJECT

The Freeport City Council meeting of Aug. 27 opened with City Planner Latilda Henninger requesting approval for construction of a development anchored by a Publix grocery store, accompanied by a group of specialty retail shops on property on the west side of U.S. 331, just south of its intersection with SR-20. Henninger said the project came to the Council with the City Planning Board’s recommendation for approval. The target date for completion of construction is in the first quarter of 2011. The Council approved the request.
The final plat for the office park development on SR-20 at the corner of U.S. 331 was submitted to the Council for acceptance. It was said that four of the units in the park have already been sold and that other sales are being discussed but that the developers did not know a precondition for sale was the acceptance of the final plat. All units in this park are individually metered for utilities….
