OFFICIALS EYE NEW APPROACH FOR NOISE DISTURBANCES

A nuisance abatement program is now being considered in Walton County as a possible solution to noise disturbances.
Two noise ordinances are now applicable in the area south of the bay, one for Grayton Beach and one for the remaining area of south Walton County. A countywide noise ordinance that would replace those two documents has been under consideration for a number of months by the Walton County Board of County Commissioners (BCC). The proposed changes had followed complaints from neighborhoods about disturbances from homes rented out for weddings and other large events and celebrations.
With the countywide noise ordinance up for a public hearing on Aug. 11, the BCC instead opted to discuss the option of a noise abatement program….
