COUNTY EYES REVISIONS TO BEACH DRIVING AND DOG PERMITS

For purposes of clarification, Walton County is considering changes to its ordinances regulating driving on the beach and taking dogs on the beach.
The proposed changes are at the request of the Walton County Tax Collector’s Office. The tax collector issues permits for the two activities.
According to Mac Carpenter, county planning manager, the changes are aimed at “tightening up” somewhat vague language in the ordinances dealing with issuance of permits for these activities.
Permits to take dogs on the beach under certain conditions are available to Walton County property owners and permanent residents. Permits to drive vehicles on portions of the beach under certain conditions are available to Walton County property owners and immediate family members in the property owner’s household….
