A DeFUNIAK SPRINGS woman credited the quick actions of Walton County Sheriff’s Office dispatchers and deputies with helping save her life. Last month, Jan Glass was standing in the bathroom of her Cat Island Road home when a bone in her right leg suddenly broke. When the bone broke it severed an artery in her leg, which caused a large loss of blood. Glass dragged herself to the living room where a phone was located and dialed 911. She said, “the dispatchers were extremely courteous and very professional.” Within minutes, sheriff’s deputies and Walton Fire Rescue emergency medical technicians were able to get inside the locked door and provide life saving aid. After a month in the hospital, Glass is home recuperating from the near-death experience. With tears in her eyes, she said, “the dispatchers, deputies, and paramedics saved my life, and God bless them.”
