WALTON COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR RETIRES
By DOTTY NIST
Walton County Administrator Ronnie Bell announced his intention to resign his job, effective Sept. 30, 2009.
In the surprise announcement during the regular commission meeting, Bell noted that he had started at age 16 and had worked with the county for over 31 years. He told the members of the Walton County Commission that he had thoroughly enjoyed his time with the county but said, “It’s time to move on.”
Bell went on to say that he had been through good times and bad, had learned a lot and made a lot of friends. “I’ve had a ball,” he said.
Bell said he has no plans to leave the area, adding, “I love all of you.”
Without exception, the commissioners wished him well in his new endeavors, whatever that may be. Commission Chairman Sara Comander said, “I think for the first time in my life, I’m speechless.”
