SEVENTH-GRADER Alexander Campbell has been named Boys and Girls Club Youth of the Year. As Youth of the Year, an honor which requires good behavior, character, and leadership, Campbell won a trip to Disney World, Animal Kingdom and MGM Studios.
At the Boys and Girls Club, Campbell participates in the Chess Club, where he won the first and second tournament, but had to forego the second win due to a rule forbidding the same participant to have consecutive wins. A science-fair winner since elementary school, Campbell was the district representative his sixth-grade year. Last year, Campbell represented the Boys and Girls Club in the academic decathlon, placing in drawing, math, essay, connect four, and crossword puzzles. With dreams to become an architect or engineer, Campbell focuses primarily on education, although he loves to spend time on the basketball court.
