By DOTTY NIST Walton County commissioners spent a large portion of their meeting time on Sept. 27 discussing a land transaction that had taken place almost a year earlier.

By REID TUCKER Line-itemized budget data regarding over- and under-expenditures and exact revenue figures showed that the city of Paxton turned a $74,626.79 profit in Fiscal Year 2011 (at least as far as the general fund budget is concerned).

By BEN GRAFTON At a special advertised meeting lasting less than 10 minutes on Tuesday, Sept. 27, the Freeport City Council adopted its 2011 – 2012 fiscal year budget of $3,715,410. The ad valorem tax millage rate that accompanies the budget was set at 4.73 mills, a figure not exceeding the “roll back” rate.
